Define the trace and acceptance criteria

Define the questions your trace must answer: did the call leave the application, where did it wait, and did delivery finish? Generate an application trace identifier and a separate identifier for each retry. Link ingress, outbound calls, response events, and termination. Confirm support before propagating identifiers across services.

When using NexoToken for model API access, consult current main platform documentation for authentication and response handling. Define acceptance criteria, run your own checks, and record actual outcomes. Do not assume an external service echoes your identifier.

Separate latency from streaming progress

Record dispatch, first response event, first content fragment, stream termination, and visible rendering separately. Use a monotonic clock for durations within a process; account for clock skew across services. A first byte or empty event does not establish that the user received content.

In a hypothetical blank-screen case, compare fragment receipt with interface rendering events. If receipt continues while rendering stalls, inspect buffering, proxies, and rendering logic. If the documented completion signal is absent, record completion as unconfirmed. A closed connection alone may not establish successful delivery.

Classify failures before retrying

Classify failures by stage: local validation, authentication, access restrictions, connection, timeout, parsing, and cancellation. Keep sanitized status details and the application category. A nominally successful status with an unexpected response structure should trigger a parsing or protocol check.

For a hypothetical timeout after partial output, record content receipt, termination reason, and visible state separately. Consult current documentation before deciding whether to retry. Do not assume repeated calls are deduplicated. Bound retries and link each attempt so repeated content and additional usage remain visible.

Verify with privacy-safe evidence

Allowlist log fields such as trace identifier, stage, duration, outcome, and completion state. Exclude credentials, authentication headers, raw prompts, and full responses by default. Sanitize error bodies too, and set access and retention rules. Check that debug output follows them.

In your own test environment, exercise normal completion, disconnection, cancellation, and parsing failure. Label injected faults as simulated. Record whether events, categories, and interface states meet your criteria. Usage history can help reconcile activity, but cannot alone prove complete delivery. Leave unsupported conclusions open.
